The first and only NGO/NPO in Pakistan founded primarily for the free treatment of retinal diseases. The reason being the high cost of retina care. For example a vitreo retinal operation in private hospital will cost Rs, 150,000/- to 300,000/- Some extended treatments like anti VEGF injection’s course may cost Rs, 20,000/- to 125,000/- each month for 24 months. Similarly the diagnostic and surgical eye equipment is the most expensive. It demands very high skills of the doctors to deliver up to the mark service.ERWO has set the goals to meet this formidable challenge.

Major causes of irreversible blindness are diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, glaucoma, trauma, tumors, toxic agents, retinopathy of prematurity, congenital and hereditary diseases, retinal degeneration and dystrophies. Cataract and refractive errors are the main avoidable causes. ERWO is established to provide affordable retinal treatment as well as for all other diseases causing blindness.
